The Carle Health behavioral health center, the new home of Trillium Place Young Minds Center, an affiliate of Carle Health, has started the process of demolition and construction. The facility, located in West Peoria, will serve children and adolescents. The construction project, estimated to cost between $25 million to $30 million, will be carried out by P.J. Hoerr after the necessary deconstruction phase.
In order to comply with safety and legal requirements for an inpatient behavioral health hospital, the healthcare system is focused on converting the area from a nursing home into a center specifically designed for youth. The new center will feature vibrant colors, a kid-friendly environment, and activity rooms for therapy. Additionally, there will be recreational activities and outdoor areas for the patients to enjoy.
The property, which was purchased in 2022, will undergo renovations to become a facility offering outpatient mental health and addiction therapies. It will also provide inpatient mental health care for children and adolescents aged 4 to 17. The new center aims to provide comprehensive behavioral health care services for children and their families close to their homes.
The center will introduce intense outpatient and partial hospitalization programs and expand access to outpatient clinic services for children and teenagers. It will increase the number of inpatient beds in Peoria from 23 to 44 beds. In addition to counseling services, the center will provide psychiatry, crisis services, addiction treatment, and inpatient mental health treatments.
