The new 200-bed unit has increased the number of maximum-security unit beds from 40 to 100 without affecting the hospital’s overall capacity.
The newly designed hospital focuses on increasing natural light and outdoor spaces for therapeutic healing. Patients will have access to recreational, social, and therapeutic activities to help prepare them for life outside of the hospital. Some of the additional amenities provided include a theater, music room, beauty salon, canteen, library, gym, greenhouse, and teaching kitchen.
Two patient groups will reside in the facility: Recovery Intervention Outreach and non-maximum security patients, each with 100 patients. The groups will never intersect with each other.
