The Regina Police Service (RPS) has completed the first phase of its headquarters expansion project, which is valued at $50.4 million. The Mayor of Regina, Sandra Masters, expressed her satisfaction with the progress and emphasized the importance of the new facility in serving the residents of the city. The RPS is dedicated to community development and public safety, and this accessible building will enable them to provide services that meet the needs of the community.
The expansion project consists of two more phases. Phase 2, the Municipal Justice Building, is currently underway and is expected to be completed by January 2024. This building will be shared by the community and the police department, featuring facilities such as a gym, offices, and a community kitchen. Phase 3, Headquarters East, is scheduled to undergo renovation and will be completed by 2025.
The RPS has managed expenses effectively and ensured that the facilities are ready for future expansion. According to Bray, the RPS’s goal is to serve the community for years to come.
The Regina Police Service (RPS) Headquarters, originally constructed in 1977, has experienced significant growth due to Regina’s increasing population. The current building is no longer able to accommodate the needs of the RPS and provide efficient service. Therefore, the expansion project is crucial to meet the demands of the community.

She emphasized the need for a private area for individuals reporting a crime and acknowledged the sensitive nature of the situations handled by the police. The new building provides an open and spacious environment that meets these requirements.
According to Bray, the RPS’s investigative teams will return to the headquarters. The Regina Police Department currently consists of 650 officers and other personnel.
The headquarters will open its doors to the public for the first time next week.
