Construction has commenced on a new AC Hotel by Marriott in Pasadena, California. The $60 million project, covering 100,000 square feet, will feature 194 rooms and a rooftop bar and lounge offering stunning views of the San Gabriel Mountains in the Angeles National Forest.

The structural engineering for the hotel is being overseen by Saiful Bouquet and Welcome Group, both located in Los Angeles. The building itself was designed by AXIX/GFA, a San Francisco-based architecture firm, with interior design by Wild Muse from Denver. The design also takes into account the existing parking lot, ensuring the preservation of old-growth trees. The hotel will be located on Colorado Boulevard and span six stories.

In addition to the standard amenities, the press release also mentioned that a dedicated elevator will be available for the general public, while hotel guests will have access to a private elevator bank. The AC Hotel brand, known for its thoughtful design, will also include 5,000 square feet of leasable and event space. The interior design will feature wood surfaces, fireplaces, water features, and large-format windows. The sixth floor will offer a range of accommodations, from single rooms to penthouse suites.

About AC Hotel by Marriott and the Pasadena hotel

This new AC Hotel by Marriott in Pasadena will be the fourth project of its kind for R.D. Olson. The company has previously completed AC Hotels in Maui, Hawaii, Los Angeles, and El Segundo, California.

The groundbreaking for this hotel comes during a period of slowdown in hotel and office construction, which has had a negative impact on the non-residential sector. However, the first quarter of 2023 has shown promise, with a rebound in travel demand and a renewed pipeline of construction projects.
