Amegy Bank has partnered with New Hope Housing (NHH) to support Houston’s affordable housing projects. With a $50 million financial commitment, this collaborative effort will result in the development of two projects: NHH Gray and NHH Berry. These projects will provide 300 affordable housing units for low- and moderate-income residents in the city.

Ray Miller, the real estate lending team lead at Amegy Bank, highlighted the importance of these initiatives. He stated, “The development of the New Hope Housing Gray and Berry affordable housing projects are significant investments in the well-being of Houston’s community and economy.” Miller added that the bank is honored to play a role in these projects, which will create affordable and stable housing for Houstonians.

The New Hope Housing Berry project will be located at 706 Berry St. It will offer a total of 180 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartment homes. On the other hand, NHH Gray, situated at 2604 Gray St., will consist of 135 one- and two-bedroom apartments. Both developments will provide essential amenities such as central air conditioning, washer and dryer units, modern kitchen appliances, and communal spaces including a well-equipped community kitchen, a fully furnished lounge, a library, meeting rooms, and social service offices.

Construction start date for New Hope Housing’s Houston affordable housing

The construction of these projects is scheduled to begin in October, with an estimated completion date set for July 2025. In addition to the amenities provided, both NHH locations will have on-site branches of the Bezos Academy. This tuition-free preschool, backed by billionaire philanthropist Jeff Bezos, offers comprehensive full-day programming for children aged 3 to 5. The academy’s curriculum focuses on social-emotional development, language skills, mathematics, practical life skills, sensory development, outdoor exploration, art, music, and movement.

New Hope Housing already operates 11 affordable housing locations across Houston. Their latest projects, NHH Gray and Berry, along with the NHH Savoy project, aim to enhance the lives of Houstonians by providing accessible and dignified housing options.
