The Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League (NFL) recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of the construction of their new practice facility in El Segundo, California. The facility is located on 14 acres east of El Segundo Boulevard.

Facility Features

  • Performance center and office for players, coaches, and staff
  • Rooftop hospitality club
  • Comprehensive eSports gaming and production studios
  • 3,100 square foot media hub
  • 3,400 square foot elevated turf area
  • Two-lane lap pool
  • Three natural grass fields with seating for 5,000 spectators
  • Space for approximately 350 cars

The construction of the 145,000 square foot building is expected to be completed in 2024. The facility will provide state-of-the-art amenities and resources for the Chargers organization.

The Chargers have been using a temporary training facility in Costa Mesa since relocating from San Diego before the 2017 season. Their new facility is only seven miles from SoFi Stadium, a 70,000-seat stadium that serves as the home of the Los Angeles Rams and the San Diego Chargers.

The location of the Chargers’ new training facility is advantageous as it is in close proximity to the practice facilities of the Kings (hockey), Lakers (basketball), and Sparks (basketball), three other major Los Angeles-based sports teams.

Future Plans

The Chargers plan to hold a function at the facility during the 2024 draft. They aim to fully relocate all of their operations before training camp, which is three months later.

Abraham Garcia, the Chargers’ director of project management, expressed his excitement about the progress made: “A building is now present. The only thing we saw at the groundbreaking a year ago were dirt mounds. When that happened, we were just beginning to grade the site and move some dirt around.”
